Social Anxiety – How to Control It

There are many symptoms that are manifested in panic or anxiety attacks ranging from shortness of breath, to sweating and fear of death. Regardless of the strength of the attack, an anxiety attack can be very frightening. It also can become a vicious circle for you, after having an anxiety attack you begin to fear future ones, which in turn can cause an attack to occur.

As such, worry about panic attacks becomes self full filling. There are things that you can do to solve this problem. First, just because you have had an anxiety attack it does not mean you will continue to have them forever.

Much of this is mental, so with proper support and training you can learn to overcome and control them. There is no medicine that will stop these attacks. Your job is to learn how to accept the fact they are happening, and then learn to prevent them from taking over your life. You will lessen the incidence of attacks once you convince yourself that you are the one that is in control of them.

Learning to prevent these attacks, learning about their symptoms and why they occur and how to prevent them will arm you with the tools to concur them. Do you know one of the best ways to overcome anxiety? The most important thing that you can do is to relax. You have control over your thoughts and actions, so keeping in mind that thoughts become things, train yourself to let go of the negative thoughts. Make a decision that you will no longer allow anyone to pressure you into doing anything that you are not comfortable doing.

This could trigger a panic attack. Get your life organized so you know you are in control of things. If you need a new view when it comes to your life, take some time away from the work place. Try something new to get a different view on your situation. Do people look at you differently because of these attacks? Are you worried that your anxiety will cause people to act differently toward you?

Once you learn how to keep your symptoms in check, you will notice a difference in the way that people act around you. You can use positive reinforcement by treating yourself for each time you are able reach and maintain a level of calmness within yourself. Now really think about this. When you think you feel an attack coming on think back to the calming memories you had. Every time you find yourself successful you can repeat the process when you are forced to deal with it again. You will find yourself more confident in yourself once you learn about control.

It is just a matter of building on each successful step at a time when you have controlled your panic. If you combine some professional counseling with your own efforts, you can successfully overcome your anxieties. So follow up and get some help, take baby steps, set your goals, and learn to overcome your panic and anxiety attacks once and for all.
