Question by Desiree M: Is it true that doctors can “prescribe” a person with anxiety/panic attacks a pet as therapy?
I have always suffered from horrible anxiety attacks, and nothing seems to help. I have been given different types of medicines for it but they seem to only temporarily fix the problem. Recently, one of my neighbors informed me that he has the same problem and his doctor suggested having a pet as therapy for it. I have heard of this before. Is this true? Can a pet really be good for these types of things? And if so, do doctors really “prescribe” pets?

Best answer:

Answer by Mesmerized
Well, all I know is that my 2 dogs, 1 bird and a guinea pig all make my life a happier one. Animals bring love and companionship in a way people just can’t. Animals don’t judge you, don’t yell, don’t manipulate or put demands on you. All they want is to love and be loved. I have many medical issues as well as severe anxiety, and it really does help having animals around. My dogs seem to know when I am feeling extra bad/depressed and when that happens they don’t leave my side. :)

Panic Attacks Cures: Look At Alternative Medicine

Do you know anything about panic attacks? People who have experienced these attacks say they are the worst thing they have ever been through. Trying to deal with the terrifying feelings they have during the attacks is almost more than they can handle. Unfortunately doctors don’t believe there is any cure for them. Thankfully, alternative medicine can provide panic attacks cures.

Adrenal health plays an important part in the overall health of the body. The adrenals are what cause the body to react quickly to emergency situations, and the natural reaction of fear is part of the function of these glands. When they are not working correctly fear can become a controlling factor instead of an emergency reaction. When that happens, panic attacks can begin to occur.

There are several vitamin and mineral supplements that will strengthen the adrenal glands, and play a part in a cure for panic attacks. They are vitamins C and E, vitamin B complex, pantothenic acid, magnesium, liquid trace minerals and an adrenal glandular supplement.

Two herbs that will give you quick relief from panic attacks are Siberian Ginseng and Winter Cherry. Siberian Ginseng nourishes and stimulates the adrenal glands. It helps the person be more mentally alert. Winter Cherry, on the other hand, has a calming effect on the body, and can even help the person sleep when he feels restless at night.

Instead of eating three large meals, eat five or six small ones during the day. You should eat a diet that is high in protein. Eliminate sugar, chocolate, alcohol, coffee and tea. These five items cause the adrenal glands to become exhausted from the stimulation they cause. Sugar, especially, excites the nervous system, causing the body to experience more stress. Following these suggestions will keep the blood sugar well-balanced.

Even the doctors will tell you to learn relaxation techniques to use when a panic attack begins. This is important because it stops the adrenals and makes them relax, causing the overwhelming fear to subside. Drinking fruit juice or consuming a banana will bring the blood sugar in the blood back to normal. Both of these will cure panic attacks.

These three steps will help you cure your panic attacks. Stop the attacks from coming by putting into practice the things that have been discussed. Learn to relax, and stop being afraid you will have another panic attack. Have the confidence that everything is going to be all right now. Last of all get rid of your anxious thoughts. In other words, stop worrying.

Whether or not you talk with a medical doctor or a psychologist, they will assure you that there is no permanent panic attacks cure. You can learn relaxation techniques, participate in different therapies and take antidepressants, but you will always live in fea of another panic attack. Put into practice the things we’ve talked about, and rest assured that there is sufficient proof that a cure for panic attacks does exist.

causes of panic attack

There is no hard scientific evidence of what causes panic attacks symptoms. But there has to be underlying issues or conditions that can help trigger the symptoms of a panic attack. And there are several potential causes that many professionals seem to agree on. You’ll discover what these are here

Do you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks and are looking for a natural cure?

Click here now to see what worked for me >> Natural cure for panic attacks >>

Panic attacks have become an epidemic and it seems that for many people nothing works even preventing panic attacks. You will want to stop panic attacks before the episode starts

Most US adults will suffer some form of anxiety producing stress sometime in their lifetime. Everyone has experienced the heady rush of adrenaline from a terror movie or an unexpected noise in the night. This normal reaction is due mainly to the body’s natural reaction to stress. This sometimes known as the ‘fight or flight’ reflex. Around 2% of adults will suffer a fully-blown panic attack with most experiencing their first attack sometime in their late teens or early twenties

Dealing with panic attacks means focusing away from them or their causes. Assure yourself that a panic attack is not to be feared that it is temporary that you are capable of retaining self-control that you have the confidence to cope with the situation

You can cope with anxiety and panic attack. Now there are many ways for you to minimize or even stop the chances of having a panic attack

Panic attacks are more common in daytime. Studies show that 90% of panic attack sufferers go through their ordeal within their busy hours. Ordinarily that will be within office hours where the stress level is at its peak level

It sounds a little crazy but a lot of things associated with extreme anxiety and panic attacks have a ‘crazy feel’ to them. That’s part of what causes fear. And fear is what causes panic attacks. If you want to stop panic attacks you HAVE to get rid of the fear. Once that’s done they’re history

Controlling Panic Attacks Without Medication

Controlling panic attacks naturally is better than using drugs. Drug-based medication for controlling anxiety attacks is expensive and has many side effects. So more and more sufferers are turning to controlling panic attacks without medication. Here, you’ll discover 3 simple tips on how to control your panic attacks naturally.

Before we get into them, it’s worth looking at why you suffer these attacks. Usually someone who has anxiety attacks already has higher than normal daily anxiety levels. So when that person experiences a stressful event the stress adds on top of their already heightened anxiety levels. The outcome is often a panic (anxiety) attack, and, added anxiety.

At this point it’s worth considering your mainstream drug-based medication. Your doctor will normally prescribe medication like beta blockers, tranquilizers and antidepressants. These attempt to control your mood and / or your physical symptoms. As with most drugs these have side effects of varying degrees and you can take some time to settle into them. Sometimes your anxiety can even get worse temporarily.

The real problem comes when you come off your medication. If you haven’t taken care of the ’cause’ of your ongoing anxiety and anxiety attacks (your fear — see below) they can just start up again. Which is why so many people nowadays are controlling their panic attacks naturally, without expensive drug-based medication and their side effects.

Here are 3 tips for controlling panic attacks without medication…

TAKE REGULAR EXERCISE

If you haven’t exercised for some time start with swimming or walking. Regular exercise, apart from getting you fitter and improving your overall health, uses the chemicals (e.g. adrenaline, cortisol) that are secreted when you have an attack. And, exercise enhances endorphins that make you feel happier and merrier.

REDUCE CAFFEINE INTAKE

Caffeine is a stimulant that can cause the jitters. And high levels can lead to an anxiety attack. You can find caffeine not just in coffee but in tea, coke, and things like Red Bull type drinks. You need to cut out these. If you’re a serious drinker, i.e. you drink any or all of these to excess, then you’ll need to reduce your intake gradually.

DISTRACTION

It helps a lot if you can take your mind off your ‘fear’ of having an attack. By concentrating on specific things you can help to lower your anxiety levels because you aren’t ‘obsessing’ and ’stressing’ about your condition. The more you have to concentrate on, then the less you worry about your condition. For instance, distract yourself from your anxiety and the fear of having panic attacks, by researching something you are really interested in, e.g. learn to play a musical instrument, do home projects, take up a sport and be the best you can be, etc. Make sure it’s something you can get ‘right into’ on a daily basis.

The key thing in controlling panic attacks is your ‘fear’ of having another panic attack…

The interesting thing about the last tip is that it concerns your ‘fear’ of anxiety, in particular your fear of another panic attack. This is a critical element in controlling panic attacks without medication. You see, the symptoms you experienced were just so terrifying that you are constantly afraid of having another attack, even subconsciously. This fear adds to your already higher-than-normal anxiety levels, and, if you’re then faced with an everyday stressful event, that event can push your levels so high that an attack is triggered. This is your vicious ‘cycle of anxiety’ that you need to break free from.

So, to properly control panic attacks, you need to do all you can to eliminate your ‘fear’ of another panic attack. Drug-based medication cannot do this, only your willpower can. Tip 3 will certainly help, but you’ll probably need something more powerful, something you can use to ‘train’ yourself to get rid of the fear, and, that you can use whenever you feel panic attack symptoms starting. Basically you need a ‘technique’ to help you ‘face up’ to your fear, meet it head on, and by meeting it head on diffusing it. A unique technique that is growing in popularity is outlined below.

John Cielo researches and writes on controlling panic attacks without medication. To discover the simple ONE MOVE technique that will eliminate your fear factor and so break your vicious cycle of anxiety at last, go here now http://eliminatepanicattacks.blogspot.com and prepare to get your old self back again.

The author constantly researches health issues then writes reports on his findings so that you are perhaps more aware of the facts, and then, better able to make an informed decision on your choice of treatment and cure. Remember to always consult your doctor first. Discover the simple ONE MOVE technique.
